With the gravel industry rapidly growing, BMC made it their goal to take the lead with the super lightweight and race-ready URS. The frame of the BMC URS TWO is made of BMC’s 01 Premium Carbon. This material is incredibly lightweight and stiff for a feel similar to that of an elite road bike. The geometry of this frame is optimized for modern aggressive riding style of today’s gravel riders. The top tube has a 70-degree slack angle for a longer front end and a longer wheelbase. This helps synergize the lightweight and aggressive road bike feel of the URS with the addition of stability you need on off-road courses. The top tube also features a mount for bolt-on top tube bags and accessories. URS stands for UnReStricted and the frame is built to rip away any limits.
Despite its fast and aggressive frame, the BMC URS also has excellent compliance thanks to its Micro Travel Technology (MTT). This lightweight minimalist suspension adds 10mm of rear travel for confident control on challenging terrain and descents along with great power transfer. BMC’s Tuned Compliance Concept (TCC) provides the highest level of compliance through a dedicated carbon layup that is as stiff as it is comfortable. Topped off with a D-Shaped carbon seatpost for a more comfortable position and additional compliance.
The front end of the BMC URS TWO features a versatile fork made of premium carbon with 45mm of tire clearance. This gives you plenty of room to equip specific tires depending on what type of terrain you plan on riding on a given day. It also provides a clean mounting solution for larger rotors. The carbon fork is a part of a clean integrated front end that can also accommodate a Fox 32 SC AX Suspension fork if purchased separately. The integrated cockpit also features gravel-specific stem dimensions and internal cable routing to keep cables housed and out of sight. BMC aims for clean aesthetic simplicity and innovative functionality in this front end.
Integrated protection is a huge perk of the URS due to the threat of mud, rocks, and other obstacles that can bang up your frame on your more adventurous days. The fork dropouts, downtube, and chainstays all have integrated protection that stays close to the frame. These points are the most likely to receive damage, but they will be safe with these discreet protection points. This version of the URS is equipped with a Shimano GRX Di2 electronic 11-speed groupset which knocks down the price compared to the URS ONE.
